Presteigne’s Jim Williams is set to face off with his first round opponent at the World Darts Championships at London’s Alexandra Palace next month.
The draw for the first round took place on Monday, November 25, where Williams was drawn against 29 year-old Filipino, Paolo Nebrida.
The pair will face off at approximately 7pm on Wednesday, December 18 at Alexandra Palace.
Last year Williams faced a third round exit at the World Championships after he beat Norman Madhoo in round one and pulled off a shock result to beat two time world champion and world number four at the time, Peter Wright, in straight sets in round two of the tournament.
He came unstuck against darts legend Raymond Van Barneveld in the third round, who sent Williams home, beating him four sets to one.
The Presteigne man will be hoping he can beat Paolo Nebrida next month to progress to the second round, where he would face Ross Smith, who is ranked 19th in the world.
