Builth Wells knocked in five goals to beat Llanfair United and Radnor Valley produced a six-hit against strugglers, Chirk AAA.

ARDAL LEAGUE NORTH EAST

Builth Wells made it three wins from three in the Ardal League North East with a convincing 5-1 victory at Llanfair United. Adam Farmer, Tommy Rowlands, Lyndon Jones, Jamie Evans and Danny Ives shared the goals for the in-form Bulls who stay in fourth spot in the table, just two points behind leaders, Bow Street but Builth have played more games than their rivals.

Adam Farmer, the one ever-present in the Builth side this season, started it all off breaking the deadlock with a cracking free-kick after 12 minutes and the visitors were on top from then. Topscorer, Tommy Rowlands added a second after being played in by Joe Wozencraft and perhaps they should have scored more goals in the first period. Lyndon Jones increased the lead early in the second half from a Rowlands cut back and Jamie Evans burst into the box to fire number four, with Rowlands again providing the assist.

Player-manager, Karl Seliaerts reduced the deficit for Llanfair but Builth, who saw Danny Hall leave for local rivals Llandrindod Wells last week, scored again immediately after that with Danny Ives getting the final touch to a Lyndon Jones corner to round off another excellent performance from The Bulls.

Radnor Valley were also among the goals, returning to winning ways with a much needed 6-1 home success against strugglers, Chirk AAA who travelled to The Bypass with a bare 11. After Joey Price had gone close, captain, Lewis Morris set The Goats on their way when he ran through unchallenged to give Radnor the lead on 17 minutes. Elliot Morris volleyed a second from close range following good work and a cross from Joey Price and Callum Matthews extended the lead, cutting in from the right to net a left foot screamer from 20 yards. And if there was ever any doubt it was game over right on half-time when Ieuan Price was taken out in the box and brother, Joey scored from the penalty spot.

Tom Freeman pulled one back for Chirk 10 minutes into the second half, drilling a shot past the returning Will Fowden following a short corner on the left. But Radnor always looked to be in control and Thomas Edwards wasted a couple of good opportunities while Geraint Lloyd clipped the bar with an intended cross. But Edwards redeemed himself, setting up late goals for substitutes, Charlie Beaumont and Lloyd as Radnor picked up a huge three points which moves them clear of the relegation zone.

Bow Street remain a point ahead at the top of the table with Callum Page bagging a hat-trick in a 4-2 win against Llangollen Town who had topscorer, Ben Wilson sent off in the first half. Courtney Perkins was also on target for Bow Street before Joseph Morris and Kristian Jones pulled a couple back for the 10-man visitors.

Two second half goals from Neil Mitchell guided second placed Kerry to a 2-0 home success against Penycae while Dolgellau remain third but had temporarily gone top on Friday night with a 4-2 win at bottom of the table Llansantffraid Village. Paul Lewis (2), Osian Morris and Will Gruffydd put Dolgellau four up but Jake Harris and Hagi Demmeh clawed goals back for the home side, despite them having Oscar Herd sent off.

Brickfield Rangers got their title challenge back on track with Haci Ozlu, recently transferred from Tier Two side, Gresford Athletic, marking his debut with a hat-trick in a 3-0 home verdict over Rhos Aelwyd.

Llanidloes Town remain in relegation trouble after being beaten 5-1 at home by Cefn Albion who scored through new signing, Edgar Lima Teixiera (2), Jimmy Jones, Alex Williams and Dion Gibbins. Adam Nottingham netted The Daffs’ consolation.

CENTRAL WALES CHALLENGE CUP

Radnor Valley will join Builth Wells in the quarter-finals of this season’s Central Wales Cup. The Goats came out 5-4 winners in a penalty shoot-out at Four Crosses on Sunday after the sides were locked together at 2-2 after 90 minutes. Radnor will feel they should have gone through in normal time but squandered a string of chances after forging a 2-0 lead in the first half through Thomas Edwards and an own goal from Harry Lloyd. George Lloyd reduced the arrears early in the second half and Will Howard converted a penalty for Crosses in stoppage time. In the shoot-out, Four Crosses scored their first four as did Radnor through Joey Price, Lewis Morris, Jack Clarke and Thomas Edwards. George Lloyd then missed with the home side’s fifth penalty and Ieuan Price netted to see Radnor through.

Elsewhere, Kerry caused an upset by knocking out Caersws with a 3-1 away victory. Richard Davies gave The Lambs a fifth-minute lead but Sam Phillips levelled soon after. Davies restored Kerry’s advantage before half-time and when Barry Bellis added a third early in the second half there was no way back for The Bluebirds.

The area’s other Tier Two teams, Penrhyncoch and Guilsfield, are safely though with Penrhyn beating Felinfach 5-1 at Cae Baker. Zac Davies scored after just two minutes but the expected goal rush did not materialise and Cameron Miles equalised for Felinfach four minutes before half-time. But Penrhyn stamped their authority on the tie after the break with goals from Cameron Allen (2), Cai Williams and Daniel Owen.

Guilsfield were 4-2 winners over Abermule with Adam Jenkins and Jamie Hyne giving them a two-goal interval lead. Evan Roberts and Iwan Matthews netted in the second half while James Stovell and Michael Humphreys kept a plucky Abermule in contention.

Carno booked their spot in the last eight, maintaining their promising start to the season with Tyler McCarthy scoring the all-important goal in a 1-0 passage at Ffostrasol. Llanilar won 1-0 at Dyffryn Banw thanks to Osian Williams, who netted on 47 minutes, while second half goals from Ian Macleod and Tom Ellis (pen) saw Waterloo Rovers through 2-0 at home against Tywyn Bryncrug.

Llanrhaeadr booked the last place in the fourth round of the Emrys Morgan Cup with second half goals from Will Roberts-Morris (2) and Jacob Edwards securing a 3-0 success over Bishops Castle. Llanrhaeadr will now host Knighton Town on Saturday in what looks to be the tie of the round.

The full Emrys Morgan Cup fourth round draw is: Abermule v Carno, Llanilar v Cardigan Town, Llanrhaeadr v Knighton Town, Penrhyncoch Res v Ffostrasol, St Dogmaels v Felinfach, Trewern United v Rhayader Town, Waterloo Rovers vLampeter Town, Welshpool Town v Barmouth

MMP CENTRAL WALES LEAGUE (SOUTH)

Hay St Marys enjoyed a good week in the MMP Central Wales League (South) picking up six points. The Saints followed up their midweek win against 10-man Aberystwyth University by triumphing 2-0 at Presteigne St Andrews on Saturday. Two goals in five minutes around the half hour mark from Darren Horrigan and Edward Walkden were enough to give Hay the spoils as Presteigne’s miserable run continued.

Hay themselves have endured a turbulent 12 months but having got it right off the field perhaps it is now coming together on the pitch as The Saints made it four wins from five under new manager, Scott Warren, albeit three of those wins have come against the league’s bottom three sides.

At the top of the table it is becoming almost too easy for Knighton Town who maintained their 14-point lead with a 7-2 victory over Bow Street Reserves. Tomos Howells-Davies gave Bow Street the lead but it was 2-1 to Knighton after 10 minutes thanks to a brace from Connor Bird and Luke Boundford added a third before half-time. The Radnor Robins netted four more in the second half through Taylor Wozencraft, Boundford and substitutes, Henry Shaw and Declan Beddoes with Joey Williams grabbing a second for the visitors.

Knighton’s form, 16 wins from 16 at the midpoint of their league campaign, suggests everyone else is playing for a runners-up spot and it is Rhayader Town who now sit second in the table after a terrific 3-1 win at Tregaron.

The Ceredigion side were unbeaten in 11 since the opening day of the season and Rhayader were expecting a difficult afternoon. But The Red Kites rose to the challenge, aided by two own goals from Tregaron’s Rhodri Jones who diverted a Cameron Mills header into his own goal to give Rhayader a 32nd-minute lead. Stephen Sarpong popped up with his first of the season five minutes later with a great strike from distance. A second own goal from the unfortunate Jones just after the hour mark sealed it for Eifion Price’s side although Aled Osian Morgan pulled one back for Tregaron late on by which time Rhayader were already celebrating.

Builth Wells Reserves made it back-to-back wins with Blake Evans scoring twice, including the winner, as they edged a 3-2 verdict over Aberystwyth University on The Lant Field. Williams O’Rourke struck first for the students but Evans and long serving defender, Gavin Samuel had Builth in front by half-time. Jonny Mead levelled for the University side in the second half but Evans won it for The Bulls with his second goal 13 minutes from time.

Penybont followed up their point against Caersws Development the previous week with a 1-1 draw at home against Penrhyncoch Reserves.

Penrhyn led through Emyr Jones on the stroke of half-time but Isaac Price snatched a deserved 86th-minute equaliser with his fourth goal of the season for The Polecats, who fielded an unchanged starting 11.

Elsewhere Machynlleth and Caersws Development played out an exciting 3-3 draw with Tomos Evans salvaging a point for Caersws. Sam Barker had scored twice to put The Bluebirds in a good position but Machynlleth hit back through Liam Sully, Johan Auf Den Kamp and Iestyn Evans.
