Y Promenâd , Aberhonddu, will host its 31st parkrun on Christmas Day, offering a festive and fun way to kick off the big day.
The 5k event begins at 9am, with participants encouraged to wear Christmas hats, jolly jumpers, and bring holiday cheer. Whether running, jogging, or walking, it’s a fantastic way to join parkruns happening worldwide on Christmas morning.
Since its inaugural run on June 1, Y Promenâd Aberhonddu parkrun has welcomed 3,436 finishers from 550 different groups. Visitors have travelled from across the UK and even as far as Australia, Tokyo, and New Zealand, showcasing the event's global appeal.
The event takes place at Y Promenâd (The Promenade), Brecon, LD3 9LL.
Event Director Derek Osborne expressed his gratitude to the dedicated team of volunteers who will be out in full force on Christmas morning.
"Parkrun wouldn't be possible without the support of these incredible volunteers, who give their time and energy every week," he said.
"Their enthusiasm is truly what makes this event so special."
The parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along.
It is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.
There are currently around 1,300 parkrun events around the country taking place every weekend, with more locations being added all of the time.
One of the slightly bizarre challenges enjoyed by many parkrunners is to try to ‘run the alphabet’. Having the name Y Promenâd makes Brecon one of just four Ys in the country, which has attracted many alphabeteers.
Join in the festive fun this Christmas Day and be part of the growing parkrun community. For more details on how to get involved or volunteer, visit parkrun.org.uk
