Llandrindod Wells’ Jess Sims enters the Commonwealth Games fray today hoping to take inspiration from her pairs partner.
Laura Daniels won silver in the women’s bowls singles and at midnight (UK time) will team up with Sims to begin their challenge for the Commonwealth Women’s Pairs title. Sims and Daniels won the world pairs championship in 2016.
They begin their campaign at the Broadbeach Green rink against India.
Also starting their Commonwealth campaign today are the Welsh women’s Triples team featuring Emma Woodcock from Knighton. Woodcock, who is also part of the Welsh Fours team, faces Jersey in the game that starts at 8am UK time.
At 11am (UK time) the Welsh para bowling team, featuring Pauline Wilson from Builth Wells, take on England in the Open Triples.
Wilson and teammates Jonathan Hubbard and Ray Lillycrop haven’t enjoyed any success in the competition and over the weekend lost 12-22 to Australia and 4-21 to South Africa.
England who have won three and drawn one of their four games represent a final chance for the Welsh trio to register a victory.
