Talgarth Town were unable to take advantage of their opponent's indiscipline when they drew 2-2 with Tranch in their Candour Talent Gwent Central League First Division encounter at the King George V Playing Fields.

The Pontypool-based team went ahead as early as the second minute when John Aherene converted a penalty awarded by Richard Jefferies for handball.

But Talgarth were back on level terms eight minutes later after Grezs Chodnicki latched on to a perfectly timed through ball from Kyle O'Shea before maintaining his composure to finish past goalkeeper Connor Powell.

The Royals management were aware at the half-time break that there was a tough second-half on their hands after losing 2-1 in the reverse fixture in October.

Tranch were reduced to 10 players in the 63rd minute after Matthew Timbrell was shown his second yellow card of the match, having seen a pair of penalty appeals turned down by the referee within a matter of seconds.

Rob McNamara had a header kept out by Powell two minutes later before the Royals took advantage of the extra player when the former Hay St Mary's forward regained the lead for the hosts in the 72nd minute with a neat finish over Powell from a tight angle after seeing his initial effort kept out by the Tranch goalkeeper.

But the visitors were back on level terms just five minutes later when Jordan White emphatically headed home from a corner.

The Breconshire outfit looked to hit back from the restart as Brian Keddle's 30-yard effort was turned over the crossbar by Powell with a diving save before McNamara fired wide of the near post in the 81st minute.

The Royals were unable to find a third goal as their opponents finished with nine players after substitute Tyler Haines received a red card in stoppage-time.
