On the evening of Friday, June 21 a number of mixed teams battled it out at Cradoc Golf Club for the beautiful Solstice Trophy.

The Solstice Trophy, a pottery vase, is now held in memory of a past member Mrs Gill Badham.

Mrs Badham initiated the contest, which is a mixed competition played over 12 holes. 

In this year’s edition of the competition, there was some excellent golf played, which produced some impressive scores.

With 24 teams playing there were just few shots difference between first and last, reflecting how important this competition is for the members.

In third place this year were Diane Davies and Jeff Davies with 28 points.

Second place went to Alison Matthews and John Morris with 29 points.

The worthy winners this year were Dawn and Rob Goodwin with a terrific 33 points.

Congratulations to Dawn and Rob.

Dawn was also presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers generously given by Mr Colin Badham and presented by Lady Captain Andy Black.

The Penoyre Golf and Country Club Ltd, was founded in 1967. In 1969 it became an 18 hole members club. It was renamed Cradoc Golf Club in 1975.

The course at Cradoc Golf Club is noted for its natural surroundings, abundance of wildlife, and mature tree-lined fairways. Golfers of all abilities are offered a challenging, yet entertaining test of their golf.

The course is regularly rated in the top 30 courses in Wales.
